What IT support costs in Brisbane

Most IT companies won't tell you what they charge until you've sat through a sales call. We read through the published price lists of more than 30 Australian IT support companies in October 2026. These are the real numbers, all ex GST.

Paying by the hour

If you only need help a few times a year, paying by the hour is the cheapest way to do it. The most common published rate in Australia is $180 an hour, and Brisbane sits a little under Sydney and Melbourne. Where companies split remote from on-site work, remote is cheaper, usually $125 to $150.

Watch the minimums. Most companies charge at least an hour for an on-site visit, even if the fix takes ten minutes. Remote work is normally billed in 15 or 30 minute blocks. A call-out fee inside the metro area is rare now, so be wary if someone charges one.

Monthly plans

A monthly plan, sometimes called managed IT, covers monitoring, updates, backups and a helpdesk for one fixed price. Most Australian companies charge per person, and a full plan with security included sits around $110 to $145 a person each month. Cheaper plans under about $80 a person usually cover monitoring and updates only. Help desk time is then billed on top.

Small businesses are the awkward part of this market. Many IT companies won't take a client with fewer than 10 people, and some set the minimum at 25. The ones that do take one to five person businesses tend to charge a flat monthly fee of somewhere between $300 and $1,000. What decides where you land is how many support hours are included and whether security software is part of the fee.

What's almost always extra
